Welcome to Preschool
Preschoolers learn best through play, using their whole body and engaging the senses. Through a balance of free play and well planned, teacher guided play, students develop motor skills, creative expression, and social skills. They learn early math concepts, pre-writing and pre-reading skills. Through Bible stories and songs they discover how to incorporate Jesus into everyday situations.

Mrs. Robin Marten
"I will lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2

Mrs. Marten had the privilege of being a student and now a teacher at Emmanuel. She attended Emmanuel Lutheran School where her father was her 6th-8th grade teacher and principal. She married her husband Lance at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and also sent her two children to Emmanuel. After receiving her teaching degree from Arizona State University she taught Kindergarten for 5 years in a Charter School and was a Mentor Teacher for 2 years after that. She received her call to teach the 3 and 4 year old classes in 2012 where she taught the class in the church nursery for 1½ years. As God blessed the ministry at Emmanuel a new building was built and a new 3 year old teacher was added. Robin is currently the 4 year old teacher and director of Sonshine Preschool. In her free time she enjoys watching her children play sports and socializing with friends.

Mrs. Alissa Schroeder
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted on the earth.” Psalm 46:10
Mrs. Schroeder graduated from Martin Luther College in 2005. Upon graduation she was married to her husband, Pastor Mark Schroeder. Mrs. Schroeder supported her husband’s pastoral ministry as they moved from Michigan, to North Carolina, to Wisconsin. It was in Watertown, WI, that Mrs. Schroeder began teaching, after working inside the home while her 3 children weren’t of school age. In 2014, she began teaching Art to grades1-4 at St. John’s Lutheran School and also served as the school’s Extended Learning Teacher. From 2017-2021, Mrs. Schroeder taught 2nd grade at Trinity-St. Luke in Watertown. In the summer of 2021, the Schroeder family moved to Arizona where Pastor Schroeder began his ministry at Peace Lutheran Church in Gilbert. Mrs. Schroeder served as Emmanuel’s school-wide tutor for the 2021-2022 school year and currently teaches the 3 year old preschool program. In her free time, Mrs. Schroeder loves spending time with her family and friends, exploring new restaurants, hiking, swimming, and playing volleyball.
