What is Lion's Den?
All students attending Emmanuel Lutheran School in Preschool-Grade 8 are eligible to attend the Lion’s Den extended care program. The Lion’s Den hours of operation before school are 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. and after school Lion’s Den is open from 3:15 to 6:00 p.m. Both sessions will meet in the Preschool classroom on the south end of campus. Licensing requires students who are signed in to remain under supervision either in the classroom or one of the designated enclosed areas.
Lion’s Den activities will be determined by the number of students attending a particular session. The morning session will allow for a variety of individual activities along with study time. The afternoon session will follow the schedule below:
· 3:15-4:15 p.m. – Sign-in, devotion and quiet study or reading time
· 4:15-5:00 p.m. – Playtime - indoor or outdoor games, etc…
· 5:00-6:00 p.m. – Various activities (based upon the number of students remaining.)
The annual registration fee is $20 for each student attending The Lion’s Den extended care program. The registration fee will be assessed when a student begins using the program, however the fee will not be collected until the second time a student participates in extended care. (A registration fee is not assessed for a one-time use of the program to cover an emergency situation, although the service itself will be billed at the hourly rate.)
Extended care is billed at the rate of $2.50/student/half-hour or fraction thereof. Families using The Lion’s Den must establish a Lion’s Den credit account with the school office prior to using extended care. Families will receive monthly statements informing them of the account balance. It is imperative that families stay current with their Lion's Den obligations since this service must support itself. Students with a negative account balance may be prohibited from using Lion’s Den.
NOTE: Students still in the care of Lion’s Den after 6:00 p.m. will be charged at a rate of $1.00/minute late fee.
If you have any questions about The Lion’s Den program, please contact Mr. Campbell in the school office.
